I'm Alice, the founder of Solihull Yoga.

About me

I completed my 200RYT Yoga Teacher Training in Malaga Spain with the Yoga Alliance of Professionals in 2017, since then I have trained as a "Yoga Therapist" and "Childrens Yoga Teacher" with the British School of Yoga.  I also trained with James Reeves of  Ekhart Yoga to gain my "Irest Yoga Nidra" certificate. I hold additional training certificates in Yin Yoga, Boxing Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, and have gained over 1000 hours of teaching since qualifying as a Yoga Teacher

I enjoy coaching individuals through a full range of movement in their bodies whatever shape, size or flexibility.   My style of teaching  encourages a healthy mind/body connection through movement and self awareness.  I have a passion to help people unplug from the pressures of daily life through Irest Yoga Nidra and meditation, click the YouTube icon for one of my short guided meditations.

Hatha and Flow Yoga

In Hatha practice we focus on mindfully integrating movement with breath.  This practice suits those who prefer a slower, deeper practice, and is ideal for beginners.

In Flow Yoga we practice at a faster pace including Triangle

and Warrior sequences, with Sun Salutations.

I have "Feetup" trainers in Solihull Yoga room that can be incorporated into your Yoga practice, these upside down trainers are an innovative Yoga prop that make make inversions safe and easy and more importantly are fun to use.

Modifications are provided throughout that allow you to work at your own pace, we are all on our own personal yoga journey with different levels of flexibility, there is no" right or wrong" or expectations with this practice.

Practice is 50 minutes of physical movement followed by 10 minutes of "Irest" guided meditation.

Yoga Therapy

I trained with the British School  of Yoga in 2018 to become a Yoga Therapist.  Yoga Therapy adopts a holistic approach to health, it builds on the basic elements that help us live a healthy and happy life of movement, mindfulness, nutrition and sleep.

In my personal life I have overcome and managed many life traumas, I am a good listener and can guide or signpost you to other resources that may help if you feel unsettled mentally.

Through Yoga Therapy most find a sense of relief, empowerment and tranquility from our "hurry up" lives.  Yoga therapy can assist with recovery from injury, illness or life changing events, alongside helping you to restore focus with a sense of agency and inner peace.

Irest Yoga Nidra

IRest Yoga Nidra was developed by Richard Miller, PhD.  Richard is a world-renowned author, yogic scholar, researcher and clinical psychologist, who has combined traditional yogic practice with western psychology and neuroscience.

Irest Yoga Nidra is particularly useful for those who have difficulty switching off and finding peace in their inner world.  Most people practicing Irest Yoga Nidra experience:

  • More confidence and happiness in their lives

  • Decreased stress and anxiety.

  • Heightened energy levels

  • An improved sense of control

  • Improved sleep and decreased insomnia

  • An ability to better manage chronic and acute pain

  • A greater sense of peace and well-being

Studies show that Yoga Nidra can give you the psychological and restful benefits of quality sleep as the unconscious space just before sleep is explored.  This style of practice can be practiced by anyone, no experience is necessary.

Mum and Baby Yoga

Mum and baby Yoga is a great way to get back into exercising, the gentle Yoga  moves are designed for you and your baby to do together, so you can bond while slowly getting fitter and stronger.  Post natal Yoga strengthens and tones muscles as we focus on the muscles affected by giving birth (your core, pelvic floor and back).

Yoga can improve your sleep as a new mum and help to calm and relax your baby.  Movement through Yoga stimulates babies and encourages their reflexes to develop, it improves awareness of their surroundings, and  strengthens your bond.

Mum and Baby Yoga is open to mums and babies as soon as baby can support their own head, and mum has had her 6/8 week check up, mum and baby sessions are 60 minutes.

Mum and Baby Yoga is the same price as for an individual.

Pregnancy Yoga

Parent and child Yoga

Yoga introduces children to movement, mindfulness and meditation, it encourages them to be in tune with themselves and their feelings and find out what makes them happy.

Yoga has a wealth of benefits for a childs mental and physical health, when practicing Yoga children become physically fitter, gain flexibility and build more confidence.  Parent and child Yoga can give families the opportunity to forget about phones, devices and social media, as parents reinforce the message that personal interaction is more important than interaction on a device.

Through Yoga children learn to connect to themselves, giving them valuable life long skills connecting to others, encouraging balanced relationships in adult life.

The soul is nourished when parents and children laugh together, parent-child yoga is the perfect opportunity for fun, and by engaging in yoga, parents demonstrate the importance of fun, laughter, mental and physical health.

Parent and child Yoga is the same price as for an individual and is 60 minutes per session.

Chair Yoga

Yoga Equipment

Seated Yoga is an excellent way to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation, and staying seated means that those who aren't flexible or mobile can practice Yoga safely.

Seated Yoga involves gentle stretching, which can help develop greater flexibility, build muscle and bone mass, and increase the range of motion within the body. Yoga can prevent falls in later life, more importantly it helps you get the most of your daily activities.

Sessions begin with 10 minutes of breathing and mindfulness, followed by 35 minutes of light physical movement, concluding with 15 minutes of relaxation and meditation.

Beach Yoga

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is designed to help you maintain joint and connective tissue health at any time of life.

Yin Yoga is a nourishing practice, poses are held longer than in usual practice according to the ability of the individual.

As well as the physical benefits, Yin Yoga is also about the cultivation of attention.  In this practice we focus on our bodies, breath, flow of energy and state of mind.  As we connect to the breath we notice the ebb and flow of sensations in the physical body, recognising the spaciousness of the mind, as well as the thoughts moving through it.

This slow, meditative practice has many benefits to develop a strong sense of self awareness, and a harmonious blend of mind and body connection.
