Group Yoga
The Yoga and Sound I teach is Yoga Therapy based, designed to release tension from the mind and body. I coach in small friendly groups with variations to suit everyone regardless of experience and flexibility. Beginners are always welcome.
I teach at David Lloyd Gym in Bromsgrove so if you are a member you can join me there on Wednesday evenings.
Here are the descriptions of my class styles.
Yin Nidra and Sound Therapy 1.5 hrs
A powerful relaxation class focussed around Yoga, Meditation and Sound. This practice is open to everyone, no experience is needed just the ability to move into a few easy, restful stretches and find stillness on your Yoga mat.
We begin practice with Yin Yoga, a series of easy restful stretches that focus on activating the vagus nerve, this triggers feelings of relaxation and emotional regulation.
Yoga Nidra follows which is a body scan style guided meditation that takes you into a hypnogogic state , Nidra is the same as NSDR (non sleep deep rest) which has many benefits such as improving sleep quality, cognitive function and relieving stress.
The session concludes with Sound Therapy of therapeutic sounds that ancients used to reset their bodies at a cellular level, this practice creates a harmonious environment for a healthy immune system and the ability for natures own healing to take place.
These sessions are ideal for those wishing to take a break from our hurry up world, rest, reset, and rejuvenate. Sessions help those with feelings of stress, anxiety and insomnia.
Slow Flow Yoga 1 hr
Slow Flow Yoga is slow flowing mindful movement, we connect our breath to our movement and weave yoga bandhas into our practice. Sympathetic hands on Yoga assists are available for those looking for alignment with postures. Yogis especially enjoy the 10 minute guided meditation with assisted Final Savasana at the end of our practice.
Irest Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is also described as Non Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), it is designed to take you the hypnogogic state just before you fall to sleep with guided meditation. I studied Irest Yoga Nidra with James Reeves from Ekhart Yoga. This practice is deal for those wanting to switch off, rest and restore from this hurry up world. I have regular clients who enjoy One to One Nidra sessions to help them with mental clarity, creativity, emotional regulation, anxiety, stress and deep relaxation.
Yin Yoga
During this slow practice I coach you to find space within the body with Yoga Asana, you then find your "edge" of that stretch, you pause, add slow and rhythmic breath, find stillness and relax.
Stretches are held for as long as is comfortable, or for around 3-5 minutes. During this time I coach you verbally with meditative cues to help you let go and relax.
These classes promote flexibility, feelings of relaxation, rejuvenation, balance and inner calm.
Sound Therapy
(therapeutic vibrational musical instruments)
